Symposium continues a long tradition of meetings on aquatic plants organized from 1964 by the European Weed Research Society (EWRS), which have recently been organized jointly with the International Society for Limnology (SIL). The decision about the symposium in Poznań was taken during the Symposium in Jyväskylä (Finland, 24-28.08.2009).
